Proper Storage and Handling of Lyophilized Peptides

Lyophilized (freeze-dried) peptides offer excellent stability when stored correctly. Here’s what every researcher should know about maintaining compound integrity from delivery to use.

Upon Delivery

Lyophilized peptides are stable at ambient temperature for short periods, so standard shipping is perfectly safe. Upon receipt, transfer vials to appropriate storage as soon as practical.

Long-Term Storage

For long-term storage, keep lyophilized peptides at -20°C or below. At these temperatures, most peptides remain stable for months to years. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, which can degrade the compound.

Reconstitution

When ready to use, reconstitute with bacteriostatic water or sterile water according to your protocol requirements. Gently swirl the vial — do not vortex or shake vigorously, as this can damage peptide structure.

After Reconstitution

Once reconstituted, store solutions at 2–8°C (standard refrigeration) and use within 30 days for optimal results. Aliquoting into single-use portions can help avoid contamination and repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Following these guidelines will help ensure consistent, reliable results across your experiments.
